Getting a car loan after you have filed for bankruptcy may be something you think is impossible. However, the truth is that there are many lenders around who will lend to you even the day after your bankruptcy is discharged. Following are a few tips to help you make the most of a situation none of would prefer to have.

Review Your Credit Report

Before you do anything else, take a look at your credit report to make sure your accounts look the way they are supposed to. If anything is out of order, you may have to contact the three credit repositories (Equifax, Trans Union, & Experian) to get things cleared up. It’s fairly common to see some open accounts that should be closed after your bankruptcy, which could hurt your eligibility for a loan.

In addition to clearing up inaccurate information in your credit report, you may want to add a page explaining the circumstances surrounding your bankruptcy. Lenders often grant better terms than normal when they become aware of extenuating
circumstances.

Plan Your Budget

Before you go car shopping, figure out how much you can afford in monthly payments. The length of the loan, the amount borrowed, and the interest rate all affect your monthly payment and whether or not you can afford making a payment plays a large role in your financing options from lenders.

Contact A Car Loan Lender

Car loan lenders can help you determine a price range for your new car, and they operate with much less pressure than a car dealer’s finance department. Get pre-qualified for a loan before you go out car shopping so that you don’t end up wasting hours and hours looking at cars you aren’t able to purchase.

Car loan specialists like E-Loan make their money by finding you a loan. They work with several financing partners and can grant loans with all types of credit risk, including recent bankruptcies. These type of lenders can also often get you a better deal than your local dealership simply because they do much more volume.

Explain Your Situation In Detail

Regardless of where you apply, or with whom you apply, be sure to explain (in writing) the circumstances surrounding your bankruptcy. Also, it is a good idea to point out positive steps you have taken to improve your credit situation. All car loan applications ask if you have ever declared bankruptcy so be prepared to explain why when asked.

Refinance Your Car Loan

After you purchase your new car don’t forget to keep an eye open for better loan terms in the future. As you continue to make your monthly payments on time your credit rating will improve and you will become eligible for better loan terms.

In order to use a car loan calculator properly you must first get all the relevant data together to enter into the calculator. First, though, a few words about car loans and why a calculator is used by many people.

When you enter into a loan of any type, whether it is for a car, a boat, business equipment or even a motorcycle, you take the loan for a specific amount to enable you to purchase your new vehicle or equipment, and then repay it over a period of time. The purpose of equipment finance is to enable you to spread the cost of your purchase over time, so that you can repay it monthly as your salary or wages are paid.

It is also, of course, to enable the lender to make money; otherwise there would be no incentive for them to lend you the money. The lender’s profit is based upon charging you a certain sum for every dollar you borrow: a charge that is commonly known as ‘interest’, and that is expressed in terms of a percentage of the amount lent.

The cost of your loan will be dependent on the amount you borrow, the length of time you borrow it for and the interest rate. The larger any one of these figures, so does the cost of your finance. Although your monthly repayments can be reduced by increasing the period of your loan, your overall loan cost will be higher, because you will be paying the interest for longer. This is where a car loan calculator can help calculate costs of a car loan.

The information you need is the amount you are borrowing, the interest rate charged on the car finance and the number of months you are borrowing it for. If you feel that you will be financially better off towards the end of the loan term you could also have a balloon in mind: that is a amount of principle left to repay in bulk at the end of the term.

Now take the online car loan calculator and first enter in the preferred loan amount, term of the loan and the current interest rate being offered by the lender. The result will be your monthly repayments. If these are too high, increase the loan period: it might cost you more overall, but could enable you to afford a loan that you otherwise could not. The result now will be a lower monthly figure.

You can keep doing this, increasing the loan period, until you reach a figure you can afford. Then check to make sure it is possible for you to borrow the sum needed over that period. Keep in mind that on most cars you can get a loan secured on your vehicle, and that will mean a lower interest rate than an unsecured loan. However, a secured loan also means that you will need a comprehensive auto insurance policy in order to protect the lender’s security: your car.

If you find the car loan interest rate changes as you compare car finance offers, enter that into the car loan calculator, and find out what that does to your monthly repayment.

Some people use the car loan calculator to figure out what interest rate they can afford to pay. Most secured car loans have a fixed interest rates but personal loans can be variable. However, it might be of use to some to know the maximum rate they can afford for the sum borrowed. To do that, enter the principal (amount of loan) and the number of months you want to borrow it for.

Then decide how much you can afford to pay, and enter various interest rates into the online loan calculator until the answer is that figure. You now know the amount of loan, repayment period and maximum interest rate you can afford. That will help you when shopping around for a car loan, equipment finance, home loan – or a boat loan or motorcycle loan.

These examples show how to use a car loan calculator properly to provide you with as much useful information as possible. If you are seeking a loan to buy a car, or any type of vehicle, then look for a site offering an online loan calculator and use it. It can help you a great deal, rather than you just leaving it to chance.

Dreams of owning a car can be crushed within minutes by a mail from the lender who cites bad credit scores to reject your loan application. Hundreds of auto loan applications are rejected on a daily basis only because the most important criteria of a good credit score are not satisfied. The banks and finance companies use the credit scores to judge whether an applicant is reliable to be lent a big amount or not. Bad credit score can be the result of defaulting past payments or even bankruptcy. These failures to repay past loans can wreck havoc on the repayment capability of a borrower. Banks and finance companies would not look into the other details of the application if they find that the applicant fails to match the requisite credit score. Bad credit auto loan can be a viable option in such a scenario; it can help you to get the much needed auto loan within a short period of time.

Bad credit auto loan provides us the opportunity to realize our dreams of owning a car. Several finance companies have come up over the years that provide the bad credit auto loan. These loans are especially designed for the ones who have a poor credit score but want to avail a loan for buying a vehicle. There are companies that disburse loans only to the people who have a bad credit scores. There are a few things that one needs to look at while availing loans from these companies. Bad credit auto loan comes with the baggage of a high interest rate and this can be one aspect that makes people think twice while availing them. Since there are quite a few companies offering similar services, so it is better that you do your part of the research to avail the bet rates. The competition in the finance market is huge and the finance companies are doling out great offers in order to attract more and more customers. This is the best opportunity for the consumers to avail the best rates on the offering.

The rate of interest varies from company to company and in such a scenario you need to zero in on the one that offers the lowest rates. The rate of Interest for the bad credit auto loan is higher than the conventional auto loans and this is something that one has to bear with (at least it is better than being denied a loan). The application for the bad credit auto loan can be submitted online and this is the reason why you have to face minimum hassle while applying for the loan. The approval and the processing of the loan do not take much time and all you have to do is answer the verification calls that are made by the finance companies.

Bad credit loan rate can be decreased if only you can increase the down payment or arrange for a cosigner. Doing the former can reduce the rate of interest considerably.

Because many auto loan lenders are willing to assist individuals with all credit situations, it is possible to obtain a new or used car loan with no credit history. In some instances, those with no credit history are lumped together with bad credit applicants. However, there is a huge difference. Here are a few tips to help you get approved with no previous credit history

Open a Checking or Savings Account

When applying for an auto loan, lenders want to see evidence that an applicant is responsible. In most cases, a credit report is sufficient. However, if an applicant has no previous credit, they may be willing to consider other factors. For example, does the applicant have an active checking or savings account? If so, maintaining a good account standing with the bank may serve to your advantage.

Moreover, having a utility bill in your name also helps. This way, potential auto loan lenders are able to observe your willingness to pay bills on time.

Maintain Regular Employment

Along with reviewing past credit history, auto loan lenders also consider an applicant’s income and work history. Individuals who have developed a habit of jumping from job-to-job are decreasing their approval odds. Lenders desire stable applicants. Additionally, applicants must earn a reasonable salary. For example, if your salary after taxes is only $800, most lenders will not approve a loan which involves a $500 monthly payment.

Get a Credit Card

The majority of individuals who apply for auto loans with no previous credit history are young adults and college students. However, these persons are generally able to obtain their first credit card with little hassle. For this matter, it helps to apply for a major credit card or retail card and begin establishing credit. In as little as six months, your credit score will improve, which boosts your chances of getting a car loan.

Get a Co-signer for Auto Loan

Another easy method for obtaining a car loan approval with no credit history is asking a parent, sibling, or grandparent to co-sign the loan. Co-signers put lenders at ease. If the primary borrower is incapable or skips out on payments, the person who co-signed the vehicle loan becomes responsible for making the payments.

LexisNexis, a provider of personal and financial data, recently reported that the personal information of as many as 310,000 people nationwide may have been stolen. This figure is nearly 10 times higher than the original figure disclosed last month by the company.

ChoicePoint Inc., another consumer data collection service, stated 145,000 people in their database were possibly exposed to identity thieves earlier this year. At DSW Shoe Warehouse, officials acknowledged stolen credit information at 103 of its 175 stores nationwide. Hackers have also targeted databases at California State University as well as the University of California, San Diego.

Many consumers now fear that using the internet puts them at a higher risk of identity theft. However, surveys have shown that only 10 percent of known identity theft cases have resulted from online fraud. Dumpster diving along with phone scams account for far more ID theft than the internet.

In fact you can use the internet to help protect yourself from this crime in three unique ways:

1) View your banking and credit accounts online. Almost all banks and credit card companies have secure web sites that allow you to view your statements and activity safely online. Secure sites are those that begin with https// or display a padlock icon on your computer screen.

NEVER access a financial site through a link embedded in an e-mail message. E-mails with links asking you to verify or re-register your personal information are a sure sign of “phishing”, a scam to collect your name and other identifying information to steal your identity.

Instead, type the bank or creditor’s website address into your browser. Check your accounts every two weeks. Verify that the credits and debits shown on the statements are valid. Report any suspicious activity immediately to your bank or creditor.

2) Monitor your credit report. The main reason for stealing your identity is to open new credit accounts to purchase good and services using your name and stolen identity. Chances are that you won’t know you’re an ID theft victim until you’re denied credit or you receive bills for accounts you never opened.

If an ID thief has opened accounts in your name, they are most likely to appear on your credit report. There are three major credit reporting agencies; Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.

New legislation allows you to obtain your credit report annually from all three of these agencies for free. This new program is being phased in gradually across the U.S.. Check www.annualcreditreport.com to see when your state becomes active in this program.

3) Use credit monitoring services. A variety of paid services are available that will monitor your credit reports for activity and alert you to any changes. As with any product or service, make sure you understand what you’re getting before you buy. You can enjoy a free 30-day trial of CreditCheck® monitoring service and get a free copy of your Experian credit report by visiting http://www.yourfreecreditreportnow.com. This monitoring service checks your credit report daily to notify you about fraudulent activity, new inquiries, new accounts, late payments, and more so you can spot possible signs of identity theft. After the free 30-day trial, you will be billed $9.95 monthly unless you cancel the service.

If you become a victim of ID theft, your opportunity for loans, jobs, or even housing could be affected. Taking immediate action after being victimized can minimize the damage.

Here are some additional helpful identity theft related sites:

When you have bought a car, it’s likely that you have done so with a payment plan. New cars cost so much, most people can’t afford to pay for them cash. So they’ll get a loan for their car in order to pay it off in the coming years. But people don’t only do this for new cars. They also do it for used cars. Just because a car is used doesn’t mean it’s a $500 piece of junk. Some used cars have been well maintained and are also worth thousands of dollars.

If you are the owner of a used car, chances are that you’ve bought it through a car dealership. Dealers will often offer you a financing plan for your used car. But dealers are also notorious for giving you financing plans with an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) that is much higher than average. Many people simply don’t know this. So when a dealer also offers them a seemingly alluring payment play, they go for it right away!

Refinance Used Car Loan

It’s not until they get home that they get the feeling they’ve been ripped off. Finding out your APR is much higher than it should have been, is never fun. The uncomfortable feeling that this leads to, is a typical case of buyer’s remorse. And once a buyer feels remorse about the financing plan of his used car, that’s when he usually starts looking around for refinance used car loan services that are willing to help him save money.

There are people out there paying 20% interest per year or more per year. This is absolutely hilarious. Hilariously sad for the buyer, that is. By refinancing your used car loan, you can easily save yourself thousands in the long run. This only applies to people who refinance early. Refinancing later on, when your payments are almost done, doesn’t really save you anything. The earlier you refinance, the more money you save!

When looking around for used car refinancing services and their rates, make sure that the value of the car is higher than the refinance loan that you are applying for. The refinance banker insists on this in order to protect his own assets. Let’s say that the borrower cannot or will not meet his financial obligations for whatever reason. The refinancer can then sell the car in order to recover his money.

Refinancing A Car Loan On Bad Credit

It is essential that you thoroughly check your credit rating. In case you have bad credit, it’s hard but not impossible for you to get a loan refinancing on your used car. Odds are that if you can provide evidence that you are employed and that you have steady income, you might very well get approved for your refinancing application.

You must make sure that you will be able to make all the payments. If you make them all in time, your credit score is going to go up. This is an opportunity for you to raise your credit rating and I suggest you make use of it!
